1. Choose a variety
of photographs, and prepare them.
A wide range of photos makes for a compelling video.
Photos can be numbered (in pencil) on the back of
the print in the order you wish to show them in
the presentation.
2. Use quality
photographs.
Pictures that look good on paper look good on screen.
Each photo will be carefully prepared for the best
representation for video, but there are limits.
3. Know your audience.
Sounds simple, but take into account everyone who
will be watching.
4. Time in mind.
Videos between 8 and 12 minutes in length are ideal
for most functions. Typically, this amounts to approximately
80-100 pictures, with enough time for up to four
to six pieces of music.
5. Landscape photographs
work best.
Photographs that are in landscape mode (horizontal)
as opposed to portrait (vertical) show better on
a TV. Given the standard 4:3 dimensions of televisions,
landscape photos will 'fill out' the screen easier
than portrait. But, don't be afraid to include quality
portrait shots, too.
7. Give thought
to music.
Music that fits the time and feeling of the photos
works best. Songs can be edited from any segment,
so you don't have to use the entire piece in your
video.
Also, check the frequently
asked questions for more information.
